Below is a list of Uniforms and "kit" (gear) needed to be a member of our group. There is also helpful information about the British & Canadian Paras. If you are interested in becoming a member of the 6th Airborne, contact our unit leader before making any purchases of uniforms or gear. Any item that does not meet the units authenticity standards will not be allowed to be used. Reenacting is already an expensive hobby, and there is no need to waste money by buying incorrect items. Be aware that this is just a guideline list. Other uniforms and gear can be used if the member can prove that the British/Canadian Para's used them in WW2 and the unit leader approves the use of the item. If you decide to become a member of our group, you will be given a list of the basic equipment that you will be required to have. You will have a maximum of one year to acquire these items. After that, you will be expected to continue to "improve" your impression over time. Again, please remember that this is not a cheap hobby, so please don't come in thinking that it is. That being said, you do NOT have to be rich to be a reenactor. Once you contact the unit leader all the costs associated with the hobby can be discussed in more detail.
During WW2 British & Canadian soldiers "ladder laced" their boots. This was done so that a medic could easily cut the laces and remove the boots if needed. Because it was done in WW2, our group does require its members to ladder lace thier boots also. Here is a link that will help you properly ladder lace your boots.
